Canary Islands
Located just off the north-west coast of Africa, the volcanic Canary Islands are a Spanish archipelago. When first visited by the ancient Romans, they found a large dog population and so named them Insula Canaria meaning Island of the Dogs. Most of these shots were taken on Fuerteventura with some from Lanzarote.

The Green Lagoon, El Golfo, Lanzarote. Fed from underground by sea water, the colour is caused by algae. Raquel Welch appeared here in the 1966 film One Million Years B.C. which was shot in the Canaries because of the extensive volcanic landscape.
